PTC-Alliance is looking for a highly-skilled Manufacturing Systems Electrical Engineer, who can design IoT, AI processes and machines as part of the Engineering Services Group.

PTC-Alliance (PTCA) is a growing, fast-paced, mechanically advanced organization that provides value added solutions to world-wide users of mechanical tubing. This is not “an old steel tubing” business. PTC-Alliance is a fact-based, solutions oriented company that is growing each day. PTCA is a manufacturer of welded steel & alloy tubing and chrome-plated bar. PTCA has eight plants in PA, OH, IN, IL and MO; and its products are used globally, in products made by its customers such as Caterpillar, John Deere, Jeep, and Honda.


Job Summary: 

The Manufacturing Systems Electrical Engineer utilizes established techniques, standards and tools to design processes and automation solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Abide by and reinforce all company and regulatory safety rules and procedures, and incorporate into machines, processes, and logic. Duties include Technical system design, troubleshooting machines and robots, as well as project management.  Projects will require significant cross-functional planning and interaction. Combine new, connected, and smart technologies to create value. Integrate machines, including robots, and processes with Industry 4.0. Work with IT Department to ensure that the IT Architecture can support the planned communications and data handling. Gain and then maintain knowledge and skills with the leading technologies in Industry 4.0 and the tubing industry. Be the Industry 4.0 ambassador for PTC Alliance. All other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

Absolute Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements: 

B.S. of Electrical Engineering and 5 - 7 years of experience working in a manufacturing steel / fabrication environment. Experience with Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, and AI required. Tubing/pipe industry experience will be beneficial, as well.

Skills and Abilities: 

Background in Data Science. Highly logical and analytical thinking. Good communication skills. Excellent FEA, CAD skills, along with solid experience with Rockwell Automation PACs, HMIs, and AC/DC Drive Controllers, along with Networking, Data-basing, and motion control.  Experience with Siemens PLCs is highly-desirable, but tot required.

Work Environment:  

Majority office, but most projects will require significant measurements in manufacturing plants. Plant temperatures vary with the weather and some heat producing equipment. PPE is required in all plants.

Physical Demands:

Carry up to 50 lbs, be able to get close enough to locked-out equipment to take measurements.
