Job Description

Function:

A Maintenance Mechanic has the responsibility to inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment in the steel mill environment. 

Essential Duties and Skills Needed: 
 

  • Experience with 120V, 240V, 480V power single and three phase
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, wiring, plumbing, pipe-fitting, and boilers
  • Experience with fabrication and welding practices
  • Working knowledge of machine shop practices
  • Provides resolutions to mechanical, technical controls; issues documents on all information
  • Performs diagnostic analysis using specialized testing equipment to include computer monitors, analyzers and meters
  • Determines quantity and types of equipment and other materials to be used for work assignments/orders
  • Monitors inventory supplies and equipment to ensure adequate stock and functionality is maintained, initiates requisitions for materials and supplies; while maintaining critical parts inventory
  • Reads, interprets and reviews drawings for new equipment, renovations and repairs of existing equipment
  • Monitors the work of external contractors to ensure contract terms and specifications are met and adhered to
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to contractors on a regular and on-going basis during projects
  • May serve as technical safety trainer
  • May interact with outside contractor or vendors 
  • Candidates must have the ability to read, analyze, interpret and work from technical specifications, drawings and sketches. Incumbent must be available to work shift work, weekend work, call-outs and overtime.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED required
Exceptional math skills. Must be able to pass pre-employment tests.
Three to Five years of experience in manufacturing environment.
Good attendance record and positive attitude.
Computer and communications skills needed.
