Job Description

Function:

Has delegated responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating and managing all production and maintenance units through subordinate managers (including Main Plant Finishing, Finishing, Welding, Metallurgy, Operations Administration, and Maintenance Departments), along with the maintenance of quality, yield and productivity standards, all within budgetary limits. Also maintains a safe work environment and good industrial and human relations within the plant.

Responsibilities:

Delegated for providing and managing the necessary production and supervisory personnel within the plant for the varying production loads.

Has working supervision of Superintendents.

Assists in development of new quality and production methods and assists in producing requests for capital expenditures.

Coordinate the implementation of new and improved methods, designs and procedures to improve quality, production and costs in all production and maintenance departments.

Primary responsibility for maintaining production machinery and associated equipment in functional repair and/or program its replacement.

Primary responsibility for preparing operating budgets for the production & maintenance departments under his control for submission to the Vice President & General Manager for approval. Also responsible for operating within the approved budgetary limits.

Communicate Company Policy and assure compliance, including Union Agreement and Plant Rules.

Develops and carries out necessary training for all employees under his supervision.

Communicate the safety program to promote safe working habits.

Furnish the Vice President & General Manager information on all pertinent developments and assignments.



General responsibility for maintaining harmonious relations and effective communications among the production and maintenance, supervisory and office personnel supervised; and, between all administrative and staff units.

Promotes positive customer and supplier relationships through meetings or other communications as required; solves related problems and assures satisfaction.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

Minimum of a four- (4) year college degree in Engineering discipline. Minimum of seven (7) years in metals related management at a level of at least a department superintendent or department manager. Requires having multi-departmental management responsibilities.
