Are you interested in taking an immediate position as Vice President-Quality, with the potential to take responsibility for the full technical function for the company? The Quality role involves supervision and developing the company’s quality management group, and advancing product quality. The role will allow the candidate to become familiar with the organization, products, and customer, and eventually transition to a combined Quality-Technical Services role.  In this position, you will play a role to develop and mentor the Technical and Metallurgy staff of professionals, including multiple recent graduates, into the next generation of Metallurgy and Quality leaders in the metals industry. Job Summary: 

Directs the corporate quality assurance operation and ISO requirements ensuring the quality, accuracy, and reliability of Drawn-Over-Mandrel Tubing (DOM), Electrical Resistance Welded Tubing (ERW), Cold Drawn Seamless Tubing (CDS), Chrome Plated Tubing and Bar, and Tubular and Bar Machined Components and the fulfillment of customer requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Proactively establishes quality goals and standards, recommends technical modifications to achieve set goals, and directs the analysis of critical issues and presents status reports of such issues and progress towards a resolution to executive management.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation, and control of quality and research and development plans and corporate policies on quality initiatives.
  • Collaborates with executive and staff management to establish cohesive organization-wide quality and quality assurance functions for tube and bar production.
  • Leads the Quality Steering Committee in coordinating quality activities cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and support departments, and in managing compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) based on ISO standards for all plant processes.
  • Ensures that ISO registration is maintained through effective management of quality assurance functions.
  • Responsible for maintaining well-trained and properly staffed plant personnel through the selection and mentoring of supervisory staff, successorship planning and establishing and adjusting plant staffing levels based on production volumes.

Staff Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible to uphold the ideals set forth in the company’s mission statement.
  • Responsible within functional areas to ensure employee competence, set direction, and determine best methods to meet or exceed corporate objectives as set forth in the annual Business Plan.

Management/Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Manages work of 6-10 professional/management-level employees with responsibility for overseeing performance management process for a significantly larger group of indirect reports
  • Participates in establishing plans for acquisition, retention and continuing development of key human resources throughout areas of responsibility.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements: 

  • BS/BA Degree, preferably in Metallurgical or Material Science Engineering
  • 7-10 years’ experience in metallurgy or material science engineering

 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: 

A valid driver’s license is required.
